Designing a space for my all-time favorite musician
AR Rahman sir, whom I've admired throughout my life, is an unparalleled blessing. I express my deepest gratitude to the heavens for this opportunity. From the inception of this project, envisioning a space that aesthetically reflects the essence of this esteemed artist has been my ultimate goal. The aspiration was to create a studio that exudes spaciousness and is bathed in beautiful, well-thought-out lighting. Every aspect of the design was carefully considered to pay homage to the artist's unique style and personality. The layout of the studio was crafted to provide ample space for creativity to flow freely, ensuring comfort and ease of movement. The studio consist of guest zone near the entrance, at center a music console and a front stage with a projector screen. The guest zone was articulated with a accent wall by adding the studio's logo with LED Signage. The flutes on the either sides of the accent wall runs through the ceiling and hit on the front wall of the studio. These fluted lines plays illusion of the space being more voluminous. The choice of colors, materials, and furnishings was meticulously curated to evoke a sense of harmony and sophistication, mirroring the timeless elegance of AR Rahman sir’s work.
India's most renowned acoustic technician, Mr. Jai Shankar, designed and calibrated the sound for this exceptional studio, resulting in an output that is truly a divine blessing. The walls were meticulously treated with breathable fabrics for acoustic purposes, adhering beautifully to Mr. Jai Shankar's specifications. Attention to detail was paramount, with every element contributing to the studio's overall ambiance. Our team is deeply grateful to Mr. Jai Shankar for this incredible opportunity and for entrusting us with this space. The use of neutral colors and lighting design was an engaging challenge. We incorporated cove lights into the wall panels to create a calming atmosphere and play subtly with the height of the space. Beyond functionality, the design aims to evoke emotions and stimulate creativity, with each corner of the studio telling a story and inviting artists to explore their craft with renewed passion and inspiration. The herringbone-patterned wooden flooring, finished in teak, complements the overall theme of the space. Designing this studio for my all-time favorite, A.R. Rahman, has been a labor of love and a testament to the profound impact his artistry has had on my life. It is a tribute to his legacy and a sanctuary where his musical genius can thrive for years to come. I am extremely humbled and grateful to God.
